The Hon.Kamla Susheila Persad-Bissessar[a]SCMP (néePersad,[5] born 22 April ),[7] often referred to by her initials KPB, is a Trinidadian lawyer, politician and educator who is the Leader of the Opposition of Trinidad and Tobago, political leader of the United National Congress (UNC) political party, and was the prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago from 26 May until 9 September She was the country's first female prime minister, attorney general, and Leader of the Opposition,[8][9] the first woman to chair the Commonwealth of Nations[10] and the first woman of Indian origin to be a prime minister of a country outside of India and the wider subcontinent.

Kamla Persad-Bissessar is the prime minister of Trinidad & Tobago.
Mrs. Persad-Bissessar was born on April 4, in Siparia and was the first female Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago when she was sworn in as Attorney General in November She also acted Prime Minister in September , thus being the first hona to act Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago.
Mrs. Persad-Bissessar attended Norwood Technical College and later University of the West Indies where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts (General) () and a Diploma in Education (). She was a lecturer in Language and Linguistics at UWI's St Augustine and Mona campuses and a teacher at Lakshmi Girls' Hindu College. She was also a social worker with the Church of England Children's Society in London.

An attorney-at-Law, served as the Seventh Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago for the period May 24, through September 7, She is currently in her twenty-seventh year of consecutive service as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Constituency of Siparia in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Mrs. Persad-Bissessar is currently the Political Leader of the United National Congress (UNC) political party and the Leader of the Opposition.
She was the first woman to serve as Attorney General, Minister of Legal Affairs, Prime Minister, and Leader of the Opposition in Trinidad and Tobago as well as being the first woman to serve as Chair-in-Office of the Commonwealth.
