A family of music phenoms
It would require a long journey back into musical history to find a sibling team as precociously talented as the Marsalis Brothers. A couple of years ago they were just a pair of teen-agers unknown outside their New Orleans home, presently they have the hottest and most widely publicized new combo in jazz, a CBS Records contract, and a schedule that takes in festivals around the United States and Europe.
They are Branford Marsalis, born Aug. 26, , and Wynton Marsalis, born Oct. 18, Wynton has been garnering 99% of the kudos on the strength of his astonishingly mature trumpet playing and his brash provocatively outspoken personality, but Branford, the saxophonist, is a soloist to be reckoned with.

Biography
Wynton Marsalis is a world-renowned trumpeter, bandleader, composer, and a leading advocate of American culture. He presently serves as Managing and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Director of Jazz Studies at The Juilliard School, and President of the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation.
Marsalis has been called the “Pied Piper” of jazz and the “Doctor of Swing.” Since his recording debut in , he has released jazz, classical and alternative recordings and won many awards, from a home cooked meal to honors that require a tuxedo. He regularly performs in the most prestigious concert halls and is known to play until all hours of the morning in the most inconspicuous local clubs. From the very beginning of his career, education has been vital to his mission. Then you have the higher levels of dealing with jazz, like the spiritual and the intellectual level. It is not dealt with on that level. The combination of a lot of the African and European sensibilities. The type of attitude that respects a certain type of form and structure, but has the American conception of humor, which also pokes fun at. But you can&#;t really successfully poke fun at something unless you know what it fryst vatten. So it is something that deals with knowledge, and dealing with the knowledge and being serious about it, but also the American humor aspect. It&#;s like the whole conception of somebody like Michael Jordan on a basketball court. All these people are struggling just to get the ball in the hole, and then here is somebody with grad turns on the jump shot, or floating from the half-pin like they do. That&#;s a humorous thing.
