    Cole was born in Sacramento, California. He grew up in the Pacific Northwest,[1] living in Hillsboro, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington.

    His break-through role was in White Squall () directed by Ridley Scott.[1] Cole appeared in the television film Gia () with Angelina Jolie. Additionally, he starred in, co-produced and edited In Memory of My Father ().

    In , he appeared on the Alice in Chains' music videos "The One You Know"[2][3] and "Never Fade".[4]

      Eric Michael Cole was born in Sacramento, California but grew up in the Pacific Northwest. His first movie was Mr. Holland's Opus followed by his break-through role as Dean Preston in White Squall directed by Ridley Scott. Soon after he appeared in the television film Gia with Angelina Jolie for HBO Films.       A lanky, dark-haired, thick-browed actor capable of projecting both toughness and vulnerability, Eric Michael Cole landed his first break with Ridley Scott's "White Squall" (), cast as the smart but bullying Dean Preston among the crew of a sailing ship captained by Jeff Bridges. Raised in the Pacific Northwest, he began his career on stage, appearing in numerous productions ranging from Shakespeare to musicals. Cole made his feature debut in a bit part as an unnamed high school student in "Mr. Holland's Opus" () and segued to the small screen in the CBS miniseries "Steve Martini's 'Undue Influence'."
