But mining mogul Bongani Mbindwane and model Joelle Kayembe did not celebrate the birth of their baby boy this week. Instead, their legal teams crossed swords over traditional marriage rites and allegations of infidelity at the High Court in Johannesburg.
The baby was aborted in October last year - when the couple made headlines after Kayembe filed for divorce.
She claimed R130000 a month (including R40000 for clothes) in maintenance money - but Mbindwane hit back, saying they were never properly married, and that, according to tradition, she owed him a refund on the lobolo.
In documents filed at the court, Kayembe accused Mbindwane of "hitting me with his fist in my face over my lip" after she told him that she had aborted their baby - something she ascribed, in court papers, to "a pending divorce".

Joelle Kayembe Hagen (born 31 May 1983) is a Congolese model and actress.
Biography
[edit]Kayembe was born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, the daughter of wealthy Congolese businessman Kalonji Kayembe.[1][2] In 1994, she moved to South Africa.[3] Kayembe began playing nanny to her seven younger children. She desired to study psychology, but became a model after being spotted at age 19. She began with several jobs that did not pay until getting a calendar spread with FHM SA.[4]
