About
The following post is a transcript of a 1967 Bobby Darin interview that, it’s fair to say, is the most in-depth that we have yet come across. He adopted his stage name from his mother's ironic expression, "Oh, Lord, Bobby Darin!" Darin's first professional engagement was singing in a nightclub in the Catskills at the age of 16. He later began performing in nightclubs in New York and the New Jersey shore. Darin's first single, "Rock Island Line"/ "Timber", was released in 1956 on the Decca label. Darin's version of "Rock Island Line" was influenced by Lonnie Donegan's
