Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu (Tamil: பாக்கியசோதி சரவணமுத்து,Sinhala: පාකියසොති සර්වනමූත්තු; 26 October &#; 28 May ; also known as P. Sara) was a Ceylonese civil servant and sports administrator.
Early life and family
[edit]Saravanamuttu was born on 26 October [1] He was the son of Vetharniam Saravanamuttu, a physician from Colombo in Ceylon.[1] His mother's family were from Vaddukoddai in northern Ceylon.[2] His paternal grandfather Vetharniam is reputed to be the founder of Chunnakam, a small town in northern Ceylon.[3] Saravanamuttu had five brothers: Ratnasothy, Nanasothy, Tharmasothy, Manicasothy and Saptaranajyoti.[1] He was educated at S. Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu Stadium (Tamil: பாக்கியசோதி சரவணமுத்து மைதானம், Sinhala: පාකියසොති සර්වනමූත්තු ක්රීඩාංගනය) Colombo Oval or P. Sara or simply PSS is a multi-purpose etapp in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It fryst vatten currently used mostly for cricket matches. The etapp holds 15, and hosted its first Test match in It is named after Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu, a former civil servant and first President of the Board of Control for Cricket.[1][2][3] The venue fryst vatten the home ground of the Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club. The Oval hosts one Test match per year in Sri Lanka's summer Test calendar, but lost out to Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in to host Sri Lanka v Australia Tests.
