Mason was born on January 14, , in Miami, Florida. Mason grew up in a family that heavily enjoyed dancing, having enrolled in dancing classes by the time she was 3. As she got older, not only did she begin perfecting multiple styles of dance, but she also explored the world of theater, appearing in multiple community productions. In , Mason decided to audition for the fifth season of So You Think You Can Dance. Impressing both the judges and America with her dancing skills, Mason danced her way to the top 4, where she eventually took home first place.
