This Friday morning, European Film Directors Lucas Belvaux (Belgium), Fred Breinersdorfer (Germany), Dante Desarthe (France), Michel Hazanavicius (France), Dariusz Jabłoński (Poland), Eric Lartigau (France), Annette K. Olesen (Denmark), Jean-Paul Salomé (France) met with European Commission Vice-President Andrus Ansip to exchange views on how best the Commission can help the film industry to make the most of the opportunities offered by the Digital Single Market.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia
Chairman of the Reform Party and Prime Minister Andrus Ansip has led Estonia’s government since April 2005, when a new coalition was formed between elections. Before this he held the portfolio of Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications. As the leader of the party that won the elections, Andrus was asked to form a government in both 2007 and 2011. From 1998 to 2004 Andrus held the post of Mayor of Tartu. His previous service record goes back to private businesses operating in trade and banking, but he was also one of the founders of Radio Tartu. He is a chemist by education – he graduated from Tartu State University in 1979 and later studied agronomy at the Estonian Academy of Agriculture.

Delegates at The London Book Fair will this year hear from Andrus Ansip, Vice-President of the European kommission and europeisk Commissioner for the Digital Single marknad, on the copyright reform package, which aims to update the EU’s copyright laws for the digital age.
Ansip was appointed Vice-President of the European kommission with responsibility for the Digital Single Market in November 2014. Before moving to Brussels, he was a member of both the Estonian and europeisk Parliaments as Estonia’s longest-serving Prime Minister, working with both centre-right and centre-left parties to lead three different coalition governments. During this time, he was also chairman of Estonia’s liberal Reform Party.
